National Reading Day - 19 June 2023

"Books are uniquely portable magic". - Stephen King
The National Reading Day was celebrated at Sainik School Kodagu on 19 June 2033. It is to commemorate the death anniversary of the great persona K M Panicker, who dedicated his life to promoting the culture of reading, that we celebrate National Reading Day. Administrative Officer Wing Commander Prakash Rao inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. Vice Principal Squadron Leader Manpreet Singh was also present for the event. Miss Midhaa Tahani, an avid reader, aspiring writer, and child prodigy was the guest of the day.

The cadets showcased various cultural programmes in front of the August gathering. Storytelling, reading cards, a skit on 'When books speak', song, etc. were held. There was a group discussion by the teachers on the topic 'Why we read and why you should read?' 'The chosen one' where a teacher had to present a book review spontaneously if their name comes up in the lucky draw added beauty to the event. As part of the National Reading Day celebrations 'Best Reader Award' and 'Best Library Notebook Award' were given away to the winners.

The National Reading Day was a successful event owing to the cooperation and support of all the cadets and teachers. Hopefully, events like this would motivate the cadets to take on reading as a habit.
