History Of Sainik School Kodagu
Sainik School Kodagu is located at Kudige village approximately 6 Kms from Kushalnagar in Kodagu district. The Kodagu district is popularly known as the Scotland of India because of its evergreen rain forest, hill stations which produce coffee, cardamom, pepper, oranges etc. It is also the birth place of the river Cauvery. The people of Kodagu are special in many ways and have stood apart in their beauty, bravery and hospitality. Apart from tourism and commercial crop plantations in a significant and proud contribution in its distinguished martial tradition, it has given the highest numbers of warriors, including several Generals, Brigadiers to the Indian Army. The school was raised and established at village Kudige, with the first batch of 64 cadets, four teachers and two administrative staff with the academic session 2007-08 which began on 18 Oct 2007. The school initially began functioning from temporary buildings; necessary temporary shelters were constructed to cater for the urgent lodging and boarding needs of the cadets and staff through intering efforts of Officers and staff, the school oversaw the creation of its present infrastructure.

Sainik Schools Society, Government of India, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi had deputed Lt Col Prakash Narahari (AEC) as Founder Principal and Lt Col MS Kaveriappa (ASC) as Founder Registrar.
